4 January 1889 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 4th January [1889]. Had another last go at my still life & then put it away, carried off the objects & Nela & I proceeded to sweep out & clean the studio wh needed it sorely & which took us till lunch. The girls went out with Mrs Browning to see over her Rezzonico Palace. Dora went with Lady Galway. I went out with Henry. It was bitterly cold & we were glad to come home. Mrs Browning came back to tea with the girls. Young P. Clemens Metternich & Ct C. Lucchese Palli came to tea. I wrote letters after tea & we had a quiet evening. Ola played the piano & then I played the harmonium.
