8 January 1889 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 8th January [1889]. I modelled a small figure of Ola to work from. After lunch Henry walked out to the public gardens with the girls. I went to see Mr Cook’s paintings at the Grand Hotel his studio being his bedroom. His work is pretty but too smooth & licked. I went on to Mrs Bronson. Found her at home & after chatting with her for ½ hour walked home. Just before I left home Edith came to see me to ask the girls to go & dance in paper flowers at her mothers tomorrow. I excused them saying they were too shy to wear paper flowers & that I had a party. I walked home from Mrs Bronsons by 5. Miss Lawley & Miss Carden came to tea. Olga Mocenigo dined with us & stayed chatting till 11.
