9 January 1889 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 9th [January 1889]. Ola sat to me & I regularly began her bust working all the morning till lunch. Then took a walk with Henry. The Dss della Grazia came to present a Mme Bardou & 2 daughters very distinguished looking girls—very tall. Mme Pandolfi came to present M., Mme & Mlle V. Thieren. He a Minister for Brunswick once on a time. She a Russian. Very queer looking people & she a great talker. In the evening we had a dinner of 12 viz. Baron, Bss & Mlle Andrian, Adl & Mme Noce, & Mr Moore, Mrs Eden, Count Gabardi & Ct C. Lucchese Palli, Ola & ourselves. Several of them went on to a dance at Mrs Bronsons where every body had to be decorated with paper flowers—but I made an excuse for us not to go.
