27 January 1889 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Sunday. 27th [January 1889]. To church with the girls morning & afternoon. Had a headache. Mrs Eden came to tea, also the Dss della Grazia to tell me that as D. Carlos has got a dance tomorrow night they will be obliged to go to him & leave me. He is said to regret taking my day but that he wants to do honor to some great Spaniards passing thro’ Venice. If I had known of it sooner I wd have put off the dancing till next Monday week. I went to the Grand Hotel at 4 to pay a visit to Dr & Mme Nevada Palmer. She American. He English. Mr Malcolm & Mr Brown & his mother dined with us & Ola played the piano after. | |
