2 February 1889 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 2nd February [1889]. I had sent for Dr Palmer & he called at 11 & I told him all that was being said of his wife Mme Nevada. At 12 Mr Brown came to fetch me & we walked to see the house he has taken for the Sailor’s Institute & I got back just in time for lunch. We had a guitar band practise led by Marzials. Ersilia Canevaro called late to ask me if I would give up my Monday 18th to the Prefect as he wanted to give a ball that night. Of course I consented– Henry took the girls to the Opera to see the Huguenots– I stayed at home & wrote letters– The reports from Vienna speak of the death of the Cn Prince as being suicide. The plot thickens.
