13 April 1889 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Saturday. 13th April [1889]. Packed up for the start by 2.15 train for our visit to Monty at Bere. Mama came in to see me & said Blanche wanted me to go off with her to see Mr Alfred Burton & have another opinion before leaving town so Blanche & I went off in a hansom. We found Burton at home & on seeing me he pronounced it far better that I shd have the cyst removed & that at once as it was not good to have it hanging over me & he advised my going for final advise to Sir James Paget this very day. I returned home to tell Henry & we telegraphed to Monty to say we were not coming, the boxes wh were down in the hall ready to be put in the cab were taken up again. I went off to Dr Fuller & did not find him & after lunch I drove again to Fuller & told him what Burton had said & he said he wd get Paget to see me tomorrow. We dined.
