14 October 1889 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 14th October [1889]. Captain Lambton Commanding the Royal Yacht Osborne came to call with Lord Suffield & Henry has asked them to dine tomorrow with us. The P. & Pss of Wales came late in the evening & they can go on from our house to meet them. Mr Horatio Brown came to call & sat talking a long time. After lunch Henry & I went out in gondola to leave cards & to see the Edens at their garden. Found the Misses White & the Blumenthals there. Asked Carry Eden to dine tomorrow. Home to tea. Mr Brown dined with us. My new maid Césarine came from the Vaudois for my maid—a nice looking tall dark girl I like the look of. | |
