8 December 1889 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Sunday. 8th [December 1889]. Went to morning service. Sat talking to Katie till lunch. At 3 called in gondola for Mr Malcolm & took him to the church to see about the heating apparatus which does not work well– He went away & Mr Jameson came & he showed me all the back premises– Service at 3.30, walked home with Eda. Read aloud from tea till dinner time. Mr H. Brown, Mr Allen & Mr Eliot (Secy of Emb. at Petersburg staying with the Browns) dined with us. music in the evening. | |
