17 December 1889 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Tuesday. 17th December [1889]. Eda & Nela came into the studio & worked. I painted & finished my sketch in oils of Css Pisani’s “shrine” at Vescovana & then also worked till luncheon. Ola & Eda went to choir practise. After Henry & I out in gondola. I called to see Edith Bronson who had a bad cold & then joined Nela & Henry on the Piazza– It was a splendid day & not very cold. Home at 4. Visit from Mr Milton Fisher. Read Darwin aloud to Henry. Patience in the evening. Edith tells me Miss Browning & Mrs Orr leave tomorrow morning for London– Mr & Mrs Pen in the evening & the English servant takes charge of Browning’s remains home & it is all right about the burial in the Abbey. | |
