19 December 1889 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 19th December [1889]. Another splendid day. Wrote home letters all the morning while Nela sewed– Ola & Eda went to the Choir practise. After lunch I went out in gondola with Henry & came home abt 4. Visits from Ct Pallavicini and Sr Pinelli and old Marquis Bentivoglio & then from Mr Woods who has just come back from England & we settled to do some tableaux vivants for Christmas night & to take some nursery rhyme for it. The girls were in a high state of excitement over it and we discussed making the costumes– I had very little time left to read aloud to Henry before dinner. In the evening helped the girls to finish their pink blouses– Ola went to bed depressed & tired.
