20 December 1889 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Friday. 20th December [1889]. Beautiful day again. Worked all the morning at making a costume for Nela. Lunched at 1 & Henry took the girls to the Lido. I walked to the Piazza to order a book for Frederic– Met Dr Richetti & took a turn with him & talked of books. He was enthusiastic over Longfellow’s Divine Tragedy wh as he is a Jew was curious. Came home & set to work again on the costumes. 3 of the Montalba girls came to tea in the studio. Mr Julian called. Sat in my bedroom & read aloud to Henry till dinner. After dinner made Eda’s costume. | |
