8 January 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 8th January [1890]. Modelled– Practised guitar. Sr Felici called & offered to arrange my old guitar & lend me his meanwhile. Nela stayed at home with Eda who got up today being over her attack of influenza– Ola went out in gondola with me & Henry & we went to see Mr Eden at the garden & walked a little. Carry was absent in bed with influenza. The tide was very low– Read to Henry after tea. Dined at 7 & went to Fenice the first night of “Denorah.” It was well given on the whole but the prima donna not being pretty or graceful & the music not being cared about here there was not much applause. We enjoyed it.
