10 January 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 10th January [1890]. Got a message from Trombini to say that he had arranged for trios to be played tonight at our house. Went out in afternoon to see Mrs Eden who was up & in the drawing room. Henry walked with the girls & I rejoined them in the Piazza. Read aloud to Henry. Dined at 7.30. At 9 those we had invited began to arrive i.e. Mrs & Miss Curtis, Ersilia Canevaro, Adl & Mme Noce, Miss Lawley, Miss Carden & M. Wiel, Edith Bronson, Signor Trombini (piano), St Tirindelli (Violin) & Count Agostini (violincelliste). Latter is nephew of the Cardinal Patriarch of Venice—a Dr by profession—young, good looking & a very good musician. The trios went admirably & all were pleased.
