26 February 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 26th February [1890]. Henry had a bad night—& as Cini did not intend coming today I sent for him & he forbad Henry to get up & gave him quinine. Carry Eden came to see me on her way from the station said she had left the girls well but Css Pisani herself taken with influenza & in bed; that she & the girls had made an expedition yesterday in the Ligurian Hills for wild flowers & had been perished with cold. Mr Jameson came to see me—also Css Canevaro & Css Brandolin & Mme Noce & came up to the studio. Cortelazzo also arrived from Vicenza to pass a night here– I dined in Henry’s room & finished reading Darwin’s Descent of Man to him—& played Patience.
