2 March 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 2nd March [1890]. He was better this morning but it was such a bitter cold day that Cini would not allow him to get up. After lunch Carry Eden came to see me & while [we] were talking it began to snow in large flakes so I offered to take her home in the gondola. I went first to see Mrs Bronson while Carry waited in gondola & then we both paid a visit to Passini the artist & found him with the gout but glad to see us. I took Carry home & went in a moment to see Mr Eden & then returned to give Henry his tea. He had a little fever in the evening. Ersilia came to see me & sat some time talking. Read aloud to Henry & dined as usual in his room. Bed at 10.
