17 March 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 17th [March 1890]. Busy morning giving out stores & on the ramp in the house getting places cleaned &c. Wrote letters. After lunch Mr Brown came & he & I went over with Henry to sign documents relative to the church—then returned & fetched Eda & Nola & went to the Piazza where the band was playing. Eda & I shopped and bought beads for a head dress for me. Home & Mrs Martin wife of P.O. officer a dear little Australian came to tea. Then I went out to see Css Pisani. Met there the Curtis– Home at 7.15 & sent the gondola to fetch the Bishop of Gib & Mrs Sandford who came to stay with us—so we dined late– Dull weather but little rain.
