21 March 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Friday. 21st March [1890]. Began to arrange things for packing &c. The Bishop & Mrs Sandford left by 1.50 train for Florence. Henry & I went to lunch with Mr & Mrs Curtis to meet Css Pisani & Lotta. We had to walk there as there was a mistake abt the gondola– We had a very nice luncheon– The 3 girls joined us at 3 & then went off walking. Took leave of the good Curtis who leave Venice tomorrow. Henry & I went on board the Cathay to meet Mr Malcolm & close Alice a cabin for her journey down to Brindisi & then I returned to the Css & we went shopping together—& wanted to get me a fur tippet– Found Catullo’s shop quite empty. The Css & I were in my gondola, Ola & Lotta in hers. We separated & Ola & I came home. The Css & Lotta dined & also Mr Brown—& in the evening Eda, Ola & I played guitar & mandoline trios. | |
