9 April 1890 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Wednesday. 9th April [1890]. Spent the morning going round the house discussing improvements &c. Read Italian with Francie Guest. After lunch took a walk with Ivor in the holly garden & up to the kitchen garden. Cornelia went to Poole & on to a Primrose meeting—the rest to a concert at Broadstone. Ivor, Henry, Elaine & I remained at home to dinner. The house is now all lighted with electricity & the hall is very brilliant, but in the bedroom the light did not please me, it seemed so dazzling & trying to the eyes. | |
