10 April 1890 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Thursday. 10th [April 1890]. Sat with Francie in the sitting room & she read aloud Italian & Ruskin– The weather was uncertain & showery. Took a walk with Cornelia & Lady Frances Pratt to the kitchen garden & up the village but the rain drove us in. Was rather tired & Elaine brought me some tea in my room & then stayed & chatted with me. She is a charming girl. After dinner we played a round game called “blue ruin” much to the boys delight. | |
