15 April 1890 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Tuesday. 15th April [1890]. Mr Alexander came to do our corns & he was hardly gone when Mr Burton came to see Henry who he found much better. He also examined my lump & thought it a little smaller– Nurse Mellett came to see if she was wanted & then came Dr Fuller to tell me that Mr Smith & he had decided that they had rather not operate until they had tried further attempts to absorb & he advised me to go at once with Mellett to Mr Smith wh she & I did walking there. Smith also fancied there was an improvement & we settled I should see him again in 6 weeks—so I am reprieved. We had our carriage today for the first time & went out at ¼ 3 Henry, Ola & I. They dropped me at Mme Pratten’s where I had a guitar lesson & then walked home & at the door met old Lady Galway who came in & had tea & kindly wanted us to dine with her. Henry dined at The Club & I dined with Edward & Mama at 17 Cavendish Square. This morning I had a long visit from Mrs Burr. Met Lord Stalbridge at dinner & he was very amusing.
