10 May 1890 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Saturday. 10th [May 1890]. Mr Pollard fetched my fan & took it to the Competition Exhibition. Merthyr came & talked to me before I got up. I went to see Blanche as soon as I got up at 11 & asked Mama to drive with me in afternoon wh she did. Merthyr returned home by 2 o’cl train– The Gregorys looked in while we were at lunch– Went to see Lady Lindsay in afternoon & met there Mr Henry James the American author who said he was just going off to Venice. Henry, Ola, Mama & I went to dine with Maria at 7 & afterwards Ruth, the twins & Virginia acted a piece written by Ruth called Selina & the Eiffel Tower, very absurd but clever. Very well acted & amusing, Blanche & Connie & her girls & the Edmund Du Canes were there.
