16 May 1890 — 1 Queen Anne Street | |
Friday. 16th [May 1890]. I wrote till 11 in bed & then Maria came in & talked to me & at 12 I was not dressed when Mrs Burr came to see me & I had to hurry down. Lady Gregory came to luncheon. I took Ruth out for a drive. Went to see Sophy Palmer & left a great many cards & on our way home called at the A. Club & fetched Henry home. We dined at the Lord Justice & Lady Bowen’s in Albert Mansions & had pleasant party. Col Colville took me to dinner & I sat by our host. Met also Lord & Miss Brassey & Lady Augusta Noel. Had a long talk with the Lord Justice after dinner & made ourselves melancholy with metaphysics. He was very nice & talked pleasantly. | |
