6 June 1890 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Friday. 6th [June 1890]. Got up very late as Kitty sat talking to me & my 3 other sisters also came in– After luncheon drove out with Henry & went first to Wimborne house to fetch Kate who had been lunching there & we drove & left cards & Henry & I went in to see Miss Hammond. Left Kate at 17 Cavendish Sqr for tea & went home. Dined at 7 & Sir Henry Thompson with me. Henry & Ola dined at Cavn Sqr. Kate dined at 3 Savile Row. I went to the theatre with Sir H. T. We saw “Judah” by Jones at the Shaftesbury theatre. It was very well played & a good piece. The whole thing turning on a fasting girl who takes in Judah Llewellyn a departing minister & he tells a lie for her sake & then they both repent. There are sparkles of humour to relieve the seriousness of the piece & all act well. It was the best play we had seen for a long time. Got home soon after 11.
