7 June 1890 — 1 Queen Anne Street | |
Saturday. 7th June [1890]. Got up by 11 & went out driving with Kitty. She took tickets for the Opera tonight in the Amphitheatre stalls 7/6 each & went with Ola. They are to see the “Meistersinger” at Covent Garden with Dureski. We went into Agnews Galleries to see the 4 pictures by Burne Jones the Briar Rose wh are lovely. He has received £15000 from Agnew for them & he has resold them for £30,000. Came home at 12.30. Signor Smargiassi came to lunch—& after Kate & I went to see his studio with him. He works in black & white for the newspapers & paints fans rather well. From there she & I drove to St Johns Wood & left cards on Fred & his family. Henry took Ola to the 1st Sarasate concert this afternoon. Kate & I came home to tea at 5 & Dora Du Cane came. Kate & Ola had high tea at 6 & went off to Covent Garden. Henry & I dined at 8 & played patience in the evening. Kitty went to Savile Row. My nurse came in. | |
