8 June 1890 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Sunday. 8th [June 1890]. Went to the Chapel in Vere St with Ola in the morng. Heard Mr Page Roberts preach on riches. It is hospital Sunday. Mama came to see me before lunch with Edw Ponsonby. Sir Wm Gregory also came. He leaves for Ireland tonight. Henry went to lunch with Mrs Cyril Flower. Ola went to her home so I lunched alone– Afterwards Henry returned & then Maria came in—also Kitty & Nelly & Richard Du Cane. Later Sir Francis Alston, then Lord & Lady Lindsey (my uncle & aunt) & these 3 paid us long visits. Kate left us yesterday as we had to prepare for tomorrow & Henry & I slept in the spare room that my room might be cleaned & aired. It poured all this afternoon but was warm. Dined at home. I sent Mrs Wylie the invitation from Mrs Piazzi to Henry’s father & mother to a ball on her 80th birthday. I thought it would be interesting to put in Mrs Wylie’s Burney Parlour. Monty & Blanche came to see me just before dinner & Mrs Rate also. Quiet evening. Henry, Ola I played patience till bed.
