Thursday. 3rd July [1890]. Merthyr made me a present of a guitar—a beautiful instrument. Visit from Mama—also from Lady Trevelyan. Directly after lunch Monty called & Maria & some of the girls. At 3 Henry & I & Ola drove down to Ham to stay at Park Gate House wh Lady Lindsay has kindly lent us for me to to recruit my health. We got down soon after 4. Had tea in the verandah.
