27 July 1890 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Sunday. 27th [July 1890]. Ola, Eda & Nela went down by train to Dulwich to Annie Carter’s wedding & saw her made Mrs Cole. I went to St George’s Hanover Sqr with Maria & her girls, & then went to 2 Cavendish Square in search of the D. & Dss of Sermoneta who we heard were in London. The servant said the Dss was sitting in the garden of the square so I joined here there & we were delighted to meet. She is come to London for her confinement. Came in to luncheon– Sat at home all the afternoon. Visit abt 6 o’cl from Sir Henry Thompson. Blanche also came to carry me off for a walk. We walked to the Park & sat there & then drove home just in time for me to dress & got with Henry to dine with Cornelia. Met Mr & Lady F. Majoribanks & with Francie that made up the party—& it was uncommonly dull. Lady F. is a silly affected woman. Her husband is a nice man & was a relief to our dulness. After I had left for my walk with Blanche, Sir Henry Thompson remained on with Henry & talked to him abt his health wh has never been very good since the winter & his repeated attacks of influenza–
