1 August 1890 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Friday. 1st August [1890]. The Duke of Sermoneta & Ruth Du Cane came to luncheon to compare heighths. He is abt 1 inch taller than her. Ola went into the country with her mother in search of a house in the country for the summer. Ruth drove with me & Henry & just as we were starting Nela turned up so we took her with us. Left Henry at the glass shop in St James’ St & then took Nela back down to 8 Onslow Gardens & left her there. Called for Henry & brought him home. Left Ruth at home & then went on to see my brother Arthur in Vere St. Arthur himself was walking & stopped the carriage & got in. We went into Thornhill’s shop en route & then we went on to 40 Half Moon St. I had tea—Merthyr joined us & thence went off back to Motcombe. I walked home abt 7. Called at 3 Savile Row but Nellie was out. Dined at home.
