13 August 1890 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Wednesday. 13th August [1890]. Merthyr went off to the country for a puppy show at 5 A.M. At 8.30 I got out of bed & went to see how Henry was & found he was improving & had had a fair night & Sir Henry T. & Mr Herring were satisfied with him when they came as usual abt 9. I took my watch by day while nurse rested. Sir H. Thompson took Ola to the Lyceum & there she joined her father & mother & saw “Casting the boomerang.” Merthyr returned abt 8 from his expedition & he & I dined alone together & had a nice chat. He saw Henry in the evening & asked Mr Herring to witness a signature for him on some document.
