15 August 1890 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Friday. 15th August [1890]. Today Ola, Nela & Virgie started off for Bale to meet Dacre. It blew hard. Blanche had intended starting for Ireland with her boy Vere, gave up going on acct of the gale wh was telegraphed from Holyhead– Connie came to see me in the morning very miserable over her quarrel with Edward. Henry was going on well & up again for a longer time & came down to my room for a time. At 5 I drove out with Maria to see Connie & made her come back in the carriage with us & dine with Maria. I promised to send her back in the carriage but as I failed to do so she came in just as I was getting into bed to ask me about it & then went home in a cab. I sent Eda & Ruth to the Americans with Edward. I sat with Henry till bed time. Ivor came to see Henry. He had just returned from a trip with Mr Clark abroad.
