18 August 1890 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Monday. 18th August [1890]. Breakfast in bed & up at 9. Went for a drive with Blanche & Eda Alderson. We looked at carriages at Peters & Thriepp also as we have to renew our agreement for our carriage from Peters. He offered to do up our present one & charge £50 a year– Thriepp offers a new one for £50 a year. Walked home with Eda. Blanche came to lunch also Connie & Ruth Du Cane & Mrs Rate & her girl. Took Henry out for ½ hour drive—his first outing. Wrote letters for him– Nurse left & I returned to sleep in my own bedroom, Henry being still in the dressing room. Blanche & Edward went off to Ireland with their boy. Henry dined in his room & went early to bed– Sir Henry Thompson & his son dined with Eda & me & Sir Henry went up & sat with Henry & took leave of him as he leaves tomorrow for Malvern to join Lady Thompson. I got up at 6 AM to make Henry a cup of tea & he passed a pretty good night.
