25 September 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Thursday. 25th September [1890]. Dreadful scirocco & had no energy for anything but to write & play the guitar. At 3 we went out in the vaporetto with H.M. & the 2 Princesses. Henry remained at home– Wedell & Bss Bruhl sat in the gondola & were towed. We went to the Alberini & landed & took a walk & picked wild flowers michelmas, daisys & sea lavender. We made our tea in the launch on the way home– Got in at 7. Henry went to the station to meet Sr Morelli who came from Milan. After dinner H.M. & the Princesses & Seckendorff came, also Mrs Arkwright, her sister & cousin, Mrs Phillips & Mr L. Schuster, Ct Agostini & Trombini, Lady E. Biddulph & Miss Adeane. They played violincello & piano duetts & Mrs Arkwright sang to the guitar. Css Bruhl came to fetch H.M. at 10 & they retired– The Princesses remained & had tea & we had a little more music & separated at 12.30– | |
