20 October 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 20th [October 1890]. My face began to swell & ached a good deal so that I did not go out at all. Tried to draw in the morning & eat in my own room in the afternoon & worked—could not even read aloud to Henry. Mr & Mrs & Stella Dyer dined with us & Stella played to us the trio of Beethoven called the “Spirits” with Trombini & Agostini. No one else came except Mr Brown—all being prevented by some reason or other. | |
