21 October 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Tuesday. 21st [October 1890]. My face so swelled & painful that I remained in bed. As we want now to get our carpets down & double windows in I wrote to propose Henry & I should go to Css Pisani’s for a couple of days. I got on the sofa towards evening but did not leave my room. Henry & Mama were very much occupied abt buying of Olschi the book dealer a pack of Mantegna cards wh arrived today & for wh they asked 12,000 fcs! They are fine & rare & Mama wishes to buy them to add to her collection. | |
