28 October 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 28th October [1890]. Stormy morning. Nela & I arranged “still life” & began to paint. Mama, Ola & Ruth sat with us & had reading aloud Froudes short studies of great subjects till lunch. The weather too bad to go out– Mrs Eden brought Mr & Mrs Edward Thesiger to tea—very nice people. I read aloud to Henry before dinner. Ola did not come down to dinner having a cold. I played the harmonium. At 10 went to my room with Ruth, sat & talked & had tea– Henry had taken a box at the Goldoni but it was such a stormy night he gave up going.
