13 November 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 13th November [1890]. Painted all morning with Nela, her sisters went to Murano in sandolo to see the glass blowing. Mr & Mrs Felix Moscheles came to luncheon. Henry took out Mama to the Eden’s garden with Nela– Splendid weather. Mr Moscheles kindly gave me a lesson in water colour painting & did a little bit of our drawing room– Mr Malcolm came to call to talk over various things & gave me a letter he had had from Sir Henry Ponsonby asking that the Queen’s courier might see his house in case it might suit Her Majesty to come here at any time. Mr Revel the Vaudois minister called. No one came to tea. I wrote letters afterwards. Dined at 7 & Henry took the girls to the Opera of Carnicer to see the Borghi act. I read Coryat aloud to Mama till 11 then to bed. I practised the guitar a little as they came very late home.
