17 November 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 17th [November 1890]. Still beautiful & quite warm. Henry has a little cold– We got up as usual at 7. Mama very low & I had trouble to console her– Olschi came & we had a great settling up of accounts of all the cards that she had bought of him for her collection. Did accounts &c. Lunched at one & directly afterwards we all went off to S. Lazzaro, Mama, Henry, Nela & I in gondola– We took a walk in the garden & saw Padre Alexchan. The girls went over the convent & we left them there & came home and just stopping to let Henry go into the V. & Murano & to leave a note on the Edens. I read Coryat aloud all the way there & back. Miss Montalba & her brother & Miss Matterson came to tea. I left them with the girls & went upstairs & read aloud to Henry till dinner– Adl & Mme Noce & Mr Moore dined & we had Spanish songs & guitar & mandoline music afterwards. Went to bed at 11.
