19 November 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 19th November [1890]. Spent the whole morning in arranging Mama’s account with Olschi, the man who has been collecting her cards for her. Nela painted. Edith Bronson came to lunch & played the guitar to us afterwards. Mrs Bronson came to fetch her directly after. It was rather colder today & overcast. Henry better but did not go out. I took Mama out in gondola to the Piazza & walked her about to the Giant’s staircase & thro the court of the Ducal Palace & the Piazzetta. We came home to tea– Olschi came & made his last arrangement allowing Mama to take cards on approval. Mrs Eden came to tea & Mme Noce & the Admiral & Mr Moore to take leave of Mama. Mr Unwin of the P&O also came. Afterwards I went off in gondola to the station to fetch Lady Sophia Palmer who arrived from England to stay with us. Brought her home just in time for dinner.
