1 December 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 1st December [1890]. Dark wet weather did not go out. Painted till 12, practised guitar & mandoline with Ola. After lunch Henry went out with Nela– Sophie read aloud to me bits of the Ring & the book wishing to convert me to Brownings poetry in wh she did not succeed. We sat in my bedroom. I lay on the sofa while she read. Mme & Mlle Stefani came to tea. I read aloud to Henry from 6 to dinner time. Ola played the piano in evening. I read [to] Henry. Patience. | |
