19 December 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Friday. 19th December [1890]. Painted in the morning. Girls went to church but returned saying there was not eno’ for a service. The weather cleared & the sun shone for a short time. Henry & I went out in gondola. Left him at the Stabto & went myself to call on Mrs Brackett a nice little old lady whose husband died here last year– Mr Woods & the Pss of Montenegro & Olga came to tea & discussed the dress the latter is to make for the revels. Read to Henry before dinner. Mr Malcolm, Mr Dyer, Edith Bronson & Mr Paul Hervey dined with us & in evening Mrs & Miss Stefani came & Mr Browning & Sr Trombini & we had our Band practise. Mr Hervey sails in P&O tomorrow for Egypt. Our maid Regina’s 3rd child born. | |
