20 December 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 20th [December 1890]. Continued fine & the sun shone brightly for some time. I wrote letters & helped with costumes in the morning. Mr Dyer came to luncheon & brought Henry & me each a Christmas present a bit of old silver. Just abt 3 when we were thinking of going out there came down a thick fog so I persuaded Henry to remain at home & I read aloud to him. Finished “Choses Vues.” Mlle Cozzi came to tea also Mr Fischer. Dinner at 8. Bed early.
