19 January 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 19th January [1891]. Henry caught a cold yesterday & did not go out today. I went out alone to pay visits. Went to Css Valmarana’s it being her day. There was a great deal of ice floating about the canals brought by the falling tide from the Lagunes. It was very cold but bright. Mr Malcolm dined with us & I gave him a lesson in the game of Halma afterwards. Mme Wiel came to see me to talk about the church organ wh Trice of Genoa writes to say is ready to send off to be put up. It had to go to be repaired having suffered damage in the journey from England.
