21 January 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 21st [January 1891]. Wrote letters & modelled. After lunch Mrs Eden came & proposed we should go out together & pay some visits. It was fearfully cold, dull & snowed at intervals. We went to the Prefet’s wife Mme Colmayer (her day, oh these days!). We walked from there to the Piazzetta & rejoined the gondola. Went to Css Albrizzi’s day & found a lot of people– Took Carry Eden home & went in to see Mr Eden & then came home. Snow set in at sunset & we had a couple of inches before morning. Sr Trombini dined with us & we had the band practise in evening upstairs in the library. Dss della Grazia & Maria, Mr Browning, Mme & Miss Stefani & self. We separated at 12–
