5 February 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Thursday. 5th February [1891]. Nela sat to me for her portrait till 12 after which we both worked at the design for embroidery. Weather still fine but frost every night. Mr Francis Elliot & his bro: in law Mr Ford called. On their way to Greece where F. Elliot is named 1st secy. I invited them & Mrs Elliot to dine tomorrow. Went out with Henry & Nela & while they walked on the Piazza I went to see Carry Eden who was in bed– On returning home at 5 met Mr & Mrs Curtis at the door & they came in to tea. Mr & Mrs Martin (of P&O) & the Dss della Grazia came also to tea. I read aloud to Henry a couple of hours before dinner as usual– Nela & I worked after dinner till bed time at the embroidery designs. | |
