23 February 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 23rd [February 1891]. Left Venice by 10.15 train with Henry & Nela & took Rosa the maid & John the footman with us & went to pay a visit to the Countess Pisani at Vescovana– We went by slow train reaching Stanghella at 1.40. A splendid day—but a great deal of snow still in the fields & ice in the ditches. We found Ola looking very well & my adopted mother ditto & delighted to have us. We had luncheon & spent the rest of the day in talking having 1000 things to say to each other & discuss the Queen’s intended visit to Venice. Dined at 7 & went to bed at 10.30.
