26 February 1891 — Villa Pisani, Vescovana
Thursday. 26th [February 1891]. Henry is quite well today so D. Antonio has proved himself an excellent Dr & the quinine has worked well. Practised guitar in my room till 12 o’cl lunch– Directly afterwards Mammie V. sent the 3 girls out for an expedition to Arquà without D. Antonio who was tiresome to the girls yesterday—so he was punished. At 2 I went for a drive with Mother Vittoria round the farms to see after some calves who had got some skin disease from their long confinement this winter. She stood by & told the men how to administer the remedy. Henry took a walk in the garden & when we returned I went with him to see the stables & conservatories & then came in to tea & we 3 sat talking till the girls returned at 6. Dined at 7. Ola & I played guitar & mandola duetts & I sang Spanish songs. Bed early. D. Antonio was very cross at having been punished & made to do accounts at home–
