9 March 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 9th March [1891]. Our 22nd wedding day. Breakfast at 9.30 & then I took Ivor & Cornelia out in gondola to the antiquity shops—Rietti—Zavenza—Dorigo & Guggenheim & we only got back just in time for luncheon at 1.30. After Henry, Ivor, Cornelia & I went out in gondola to the Stabto for them to see the mosaics for their staircase before it is sent off to England. Also to Rubelli’s to see the stuffs being woven & then to the Piazza & into S. Marks. The band was playing on the Piazza & we walked up & down & returned home to tea at 5.15. I wrote & read aloud to Henry– Dined at 7.30 & Henry, Ivor & the 2 girls went to the concert of the B. Liceo for the celebration of the Bicentenary of Marcello. Cornelia & I stayed at home & worked & talked & went to bed at 10.30. Passini sent home Henry’s portrait.
