15 March 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Sunday. 15th [March 1891]. Mr Jameson was to have come back yesterday, but Miss Fearon telegraphed that he had a bad throat so we had no service today. Henry, Ivor & I went in open gondola to Mr Eden’s garden & Cornelia & Nela joined us there– Thence we all went to the Piazza & dropped Ivor, Cor: & Nela & Henry & I went home. It began to rain so soon all returned home to tea. Mrs Eden came & also Mr & Mrs Constantine Phipps who we had not seen for some time. He is now 1st secy at Vienna & was with us at Madrid. I read aloud to Henry. Played harmonium in evening to Ivor. | |
