9 April 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 9th April [1891]. Painted all the morning. Ida Belmondo came to luncheon & she & I took a walk. Henry took out Isabel Somerset—& the girls took out her boy. Ida & I walked to the Brandolins to salutare Da Mariquita who had just arrived from Milan (Mrs Eden came to tell us this after luncheon—). As the Brandolin party was just going out we did not go up stairs but waited till they came down & said a few words en passant. Thence we walked to Ida’s home (Palazzo Gritti) that she might get her cards—& on to the Palazzo Vendramin to call on the Dss della Grazia. She received in the garden where lawn tennis was going on & several people came. We did not stay long but took a gondola & came home here to tea– Countess Costanze & her girl came & also Css Olga Mocenigo. It was late when they left & had only time for a short practise on guitar before dinner. Isabel & her boy & Mr Pollen came to dinner. The Stefanis & the Dss della Grazia came & we had the mandoline band practise.
