15 April 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Wednesday. 15th April [1891]. Breakfasted in bed with Nela who came into my bed. She got up at 11. I remained in bed till after lunch then got up & went out in gondola with Henry & Nela—while they walked in the Piazza I took a turn & left cards. After tea I read aloud to Henry. We dined at 7.30 & in the evening had classic music. We had quartetts for the first time. Signor Martine played the viola. They played a Beethoven & Schuman—& Mozart– I turned over as usual. We were all tired & glad to go to bed at 12. The house was all in order by 12 this morning—& the ball room reconverted into the hall—where we had our music. | |
